I've swapped software now using AnyDVD and Vidcoder which will do DVD's and Blu-Ray

Took a few days but converted my Starsky & Hutch box-set to MP4 :D

Took about 12 mins to convert each episode to MP4 which are just over half the original file size

One you start going into small file size you start seeing the detail going from the hair and and skin doesn't look as smooth you can play about with the x264 settings to keep the detail but it ramps up the time it takes to encode which even on a i7 can go from something like 20 mins to 4 or 5 hours or more per movie

I'm normally happy with encodes which are just over half there original size

PS X265 is on it way which will give even better compression ratios so fingers crossed encoders start turning up soon :)

You're smallest file still looks good to me.
I have used handbreak to compress a 1gig video down to about 800 Meg's with same quality as the 1gig file. It does take a long time. Really not worth it.
I'm doing it to put all my movies on the plex server.
Thanks for letting know about plex, great program.
