Google plans to offer a bottomless cup of storage with its Gmail Web-based e-mail service, dramatically raising the bar for rivals in the sharply competitive business for the second time in a year.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based Web giant on Friday plans to double the free storage on Gmail from 1GB to 2GB, said Georges Harik, Gmail product management director. After that, Google will add a yet-to-be-determined amount of extra storage daily, with no plans to stop.
hmm, what's the date again?

I can't even think of the last time I've logged into my gmail account lol. Everyone keeps sending stuff to my Hotmail acct even though I told them to use my gmail addy instead

I use it every day, and am gradualy moving all of my accounts etc over to it, taking a while but getting there. I'm sick to death of the spam filter at hotmail, i've been training that POS every day for ages, and it takes so long to learn.

I have my Hotmail which pretty much just gets used for forwards from friends (because, like I said, they don't listen when I tell them to send everything to my gmail acct lol) and my email addy for my server (which has 9.5GB+ free space lol). And I have my optical-edge.net addy just set up to forward to my server's address.

from the gmail page...
G is for growth
Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn't mean you should have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we're giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people's lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.

Ditto :D
Team,
Mine says "You are currently using 25 MB (1%) of your 2052 MB." I'm still really using Hotmail as I've got it set up to download to Outlook. MSN was threatening to charge for it in April (?) so I plan to migrate as soon as they make it a cash cow. (Mooove!!)

jim, you can use any email client with pop to check and use gmail now, no need to ever visit the gmail site anymore.
Lothodon,
I know but I've been a lazy sot and haven't gone through the exercise to set it up yet. :(
